Conceptual art is art in which the concept(s) or idea(s) involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns (wikipedia.org)
There are true conceptual artists like Joseph Kosuth, to which I can’t compare but, I like the title of conceptual artist because my creations challenge the norms of professional and entertainment marketing. From business cards to fliers to brochures, I avoid the “traditional” and aim for the captivating, influential, and functionally impressive. I define “functionally impressive” as materials that actually elicit the desired response from the recipient which normally includes, but is not limited to: being contacted, purchased from, or referred to.
There is a fine line between uniquely professional and “too artsy.” Overall, my aim is marketing material & web/graphic work that focuses on functionality, ease of use, efficiency & distinction. I take a minimalistic approach while still integrating high-end, unique products/materials and classic visuals to set my clients apart in a world of personal and business logos, websites, business cards, letterheads and more.
